Well it has finally happened...I have my first bimmer! It's a 1988 535is with 178k on the odo. Greg Flint and I made the 16 hour round trip to pick it up in GA yesterday. Feels like I got a good one as it made the 7 hour trip back with no issues. Still, planning a brake upgrade soon and manual tranny conversion eventually. The auto is doing great right now and is pretty comfy to this lazy guy. Averaged 22 mpg on the return trip at speeds of 70 - 80 mph. If my photo does not attach, the car is red/tan.

Big props to Greg Flint for the encouragement and shuttle service...could not have done this without you

Great car Ben, and a great deal too. Here's a couple more pics from the trip back:

Man, that Touring in the background of the second shot has some tight lowering springs on it.  Looks pretty nice too.

Thanks bluedog. I'm in the process of getting that disgusting purple tint off of the windows.

Thanks Lobaeux. I sold the car last Friday to a club member as the car was not the one for me...and yes, I knew this after only two months. The heart wants what the heart wants... and as for what is doesn't want...well I think you now know what happens in that instance. I am sure you will be seeing the car and its pround new owners around at the events. Trust me, it went to a much better place. It was too good for me anyway.

Ben -
What are you looking for now? I know between you and Greg you should have it found in the next couple of hours. LOL!

Gonna be a tall order as BMW does not make a truck!

A truck? Egad!!
Too bad to hear about selling her, it's a beauty.
I thought about buying an older cllassic to restore/work on, but I think I might invest what little play money I'm allotted from my off-duty supervisor to my E92.

No worries about the truck. If he even buys one, that won't last either ;)

Truer words... I better stick to finding cars for others so I don't have to convince the state that I am not a dealership.
